Overview #
Notices allow you to deliver timely messages to your eCat users. For instance, if you have a promotion, you might draw attention to it with a simple message. Or, if you want to encourage users to upgrade to the latest eCat version to use a new feature, you can do it there.
Reps see notices at the top of the grid view in the eCat iPad app in a non-obtrusive way. They are able to easily dismiss the notification. Once a notification has been dismissed once, it can be read later in the library. If there are multiple messages available, only one will be seen at a time.
Notices can be assigned to a single or all of user groups, allowing you to customize who receives the message.
Publishing Notices #
To create a new notice:
- Login to the Admin Console and navigate to the Tools menu. Click “New Notice”.
- Fill out an optional title. Note that this will only display in eCat 2023.6 and newer.
- Create your message.
- Assign notice to one or more user groups, so users in those groups see your message.
- Save.
Once you’ve saved the notice, from the notice list you can delete, modify, or create new notice.
You can also rearrange the notices to control the order in which they display to people. Notices at the top will show first, if there are more than one.
To stop publication of a notice you can delete the notice. If you want to save the notice to re-publish it later on, you can temporarily uncheck the user group selection boxes. Be sure to click Save after making changes.
Note: any notices that users have dismissed will not be displayed again. However users can find the old notices at the top of the Library, in the Notices entry (new in eCat 2023.5).

Who can create and manage notices? #
You may want someone other than your eCat administrator to create and manage notices to your reps, but you don't want to give them full admin privileges.
The user group privilege, "Manage Notices", allows all users in a user group to access the notices portion of the admin console, create and manage notices. By creating a separate user group just for people that will be sending out communications to reps, you can keep that function limited.
Notices in eCat #
eCat displays notices in two locations, a grid view banner and in a 'Notice Board' that's always available for reference in eCat's Resource Library.
Grid View Notices #
Notices that a user has not yet seen are displayed in a banner above the catalog/grid view photos. Users can dismiss the banner with a single tap on the 'X' at the top right of the notice banner. To avoid unnecessarily interrupting users, notices that have been dismissed are not re-displayed in the catalog view.

eCat's Notice Board #
Notices that have not been deleted from the admin console Notice management page or otherwise disabled for the users are always available for reference in a 'Notice Board' at the top of eCat's Library entry list.
