Custom Order Header Fields

In addition to the base set of order header fields, you can define up to 10 custom header fields to have users fill out when finalizing orders.

In addition to the base set of order header fields, you can define up to 10 custom header fields to have users fill out when finalizing orders.

Setting it up #

You can find the Order Custom Fields in the Admin Console like so:

  • View your admin console
  • Orders -> Custom Fields

Basic information
#

When creating a custom field, specify the following:

  • Label—This value is what the user sees when filling out the order
  • Key—This value is used when including the information for order export. Make sure this is something your programmer will find friendly.
  • Prepopulate From—Pick a customer custom field to prepopulate this value from
    • Note: we do not currently support prepopulating from built-in fields
    • Note: we will prepopulate with this field, even if the value doesn’t match the available “Possible Values”
  • Type—Pick from one of the following
    • Multiselect—Provide a list of Possible Values for the user to pick from
    • Text field: Numeric—User can enter a numeric value in this field
    • Text field: Text—User can enter any value in this field
    • Date—User can pick a date from a date picker
  • Possible Values—For multiselect Type custom fields, provide a list of values for the user to choose from. If you want to allow the user not to pick one, leave the first line blank.
  • Required—Require the user to enter a value before submitting the order.

Assigning to user groups #

By default, order header fields are not assigned to any user groups. Select user groups to assign the field to.

This is useful for:

  • Testing out the function prior to enabling for all your reps
  • Showing certain order header fields only to reps in eCat or customers in eCat Online

Please note: order header fields created prior to 2024/08/21 are assigned to all user groups to maintain continuity of behavior.

  • Additional shipping information, like Ship Via, Freight Terms, Carrier
  • General information, like Project Name, Market Segment, Campaign
  • Information required for your business processes
