Overview #

As many different price levels can be defined in eCat as needed to meet your business needs. Price levels can be imported in the product file or calculated as a multiple of imported prices levels. Quantity price break pricing can be set up using defined price levels. Contract price levels for specific customers/products can be imported in a file. Price levels can be defined in international currencies. User groups can be used to show eCat users only the price levels they need to see.

Working with price levels #

Use the eCat admin portal 'Products/Price levels' page to set up and maintain price levels.

eCat has two distinct types of price levels:

Ad-Hoc (or imported) Price Levels are imported in the products.csv file. There should be one price field/column in the product file for each ad-hoc/imported price level. The price field name/column header should be in the special format "price_" followed by the price level code. For example, if the price code is 'retail', the import field name should be 'price_retail'. When defining an ad-hoc pice level, only a price code, price level name, and currency should be specified. Do not enter a multiplier factor.

Arithmetic Price Levels specify a factor (e.g. 0.9 or 1.25) to multiply by either the netprice (default), or a selected ad-hoc price level. The calculated price can optionally be rounded to the nearest integer.

Display sequence: Price levels are displayed on the iPad in the same sequence in which they appear on your admin site. There are two ways to change the display sequence. Click the ‘handle’ to the left of the price name and drag it to the new position. For long lists, click the ‘Reorder’ button, enter new position numbers in the boxes that appear to the right of the name, then click the ‘Done Reordering’ button. The items will be moved to their new positions.

Create new price levels by clicking the ‘New Price Level’ button.

Edit price level settings by clicking the price level name.

The “Delete” button permanently deletes the price level. There is no “undo”!

The Settings #

• Type—Imported, Ad Hoc, or Quantity Break. See the description above.
• Price Code—Used to refer to the price level in various places, such as the customer file. Also, for ad hoc/imported prices, used as part of the name of the column in the product file.
• Price Level Name—What we show to the user.
• Cue Character—Will display in eCat as a hint to the sales rep for which price level they currently have selected.
• Currency Code—Provide a valid (ISO-4217) currency code if you want prices to display in something other than USD (US Dollars). If you do not specify a value, we will automatically enter "USD" as the value.
• Round Pricing?—Round prices to eliminate the fractional part. E.g. $100, not $100.25
• Multiplying Factor—Arithmetic prices only. What should we multiply the Base Price by to determine the price? E.g. if your Retail price is a 100% markup over Net Price, then enter 2. I.e. "multiply Net Price by 2 to get the Retail price."
• Base Price—What is the basis for this price? Net Price? An ad hoc price?
• Promo Multiplying Factor—Multiply this and the underlying promotional price to get the promotional price for this price level.
• Hide this price level?—Do not allow sales reps to select this price level in eCat, even if they have access to it through their User Group.
