There are two options for presenting eCat Online to your customers: 1. Link directly to eCat Online, or 2. set up a CNAME DNS record.

Link directly to eCat Online #

In this scenario, you link directly to your eCat Online site, e.g. <a href="https://supercat.supercatsolutions.com/demo/m/2">https://supercat.supercatsolut...</a> for our Demo site.

CNAME

#

In this scenario, your web administrator sets up a CNAME DNS record, e.g. catalog.mywebsite.com which points tosupercat.supercatsolutions.com. When users navigate to catalog.mywebsite.com, they can browse eCat Online under that URL.

Process

#

1. Ask your IT person to set up a CNAME DNS record for the site. We recommend 'catalog.<MyDomainName>' for consistency. See below for instructions with common providers:
   1. GoDaddy: Add a CNAME record | Domains - GoDaddy Help US
   2. NameCheap: How to Create a CNAME Record For Your Domain - Domains - Namecheap.com
      
   3. If your provider is not listed, try searching the Internet for "CNAME <your provider>"
2. You tell us what CNAME you want to use.
3. We take care of the rest!

Please note, this is an improvement over our previous process, which required you to purchase SSL certificates.

PLEASE NOTE #

Your IT person will need to create a CNAME record in publicly accessible name servers. The should not do the following, to prevent trouble down the road.

• Create an A record (which might break your eCat Online catalog when we upgrade our servers)
• Create any DNS records on internal DNS servers.
